A time to reflect

I was given the great opportunity to reflect on my journey as an artist by Lena Ash, whom I met in Berlin at the Berlin Art Institute a few years ago. She is an artist herself and also a freelance curator, leading a project called 2chairs artspace. She invites contemporary artists who had a first career to reflect on their change of life, their commitment to art and to inspire others to fully live their passion for art.

The interview questions were particularly interesting: what was the turning point for you? What learnings from your corporate career do you apply to your art practice? Etc. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the last few years and to discover that all the turmoil was worth it because it led to my acknowledgement of who I really am. An artist, first and foremost.

I invite you to read the full interview on the 2chairs artspace website.

And to all of you doing art on the side, thinking about art and not daring, wishing they had more time for art if only… Do it! Start today! Post your first artwork on your preferred platform, attend local show openings, meet artists in your town, practice when you can and don’t be too hard on yourself. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

And thank you Lena!
